چکیده
4-Hydroxycycbophosphamide, phosphanamide mustard, and non-nitrogen mustard are compounds considered as candidates for the biologically active, alkylating metabolite of cyclophosphamide. These compounds were tested for inhibition of chemotaxis in neutraphils from normal human donors. Of those tested, only 4-hydroxycycbaphasphamide caused a significant (p < 0.01) decrease in the chemotactic index. The chemical precursor of 4-hydnoxycycbophos phamide, 4-hydnoperoxycycbaphosphamide, caused a barely significant (p < 0.05) decrease; 4-ketocycbophos phamide had no effect.

Survival of hematopoietic and lymphoma colony-forming cells in vivo following the administration of a variety of alkylating agents.
Dose-survival curves for murine hematopoietic stem cells and transplanted syngeneic lymphoma cells were constructed for a variety of alkylating agents administered in vivo. A comparison of the slopes of the dose-survival curves, defined as the efficacy ratio, provided a quantitative measure of the differential sensitivity of these two cell populations to a given alkylating agent. Nitrogen musta...

Sulfur mustard (SM) is a strong alkylating and mutagenic compound that targets humanairway system. We considered the expression of Forkhead box M1 (FOXM1) and apolipoproteinE (APOE) genes, which are responsible for cell proliferation, differentiation, tumorigenesis, and increased risk of lung cancer, in the lung bronchial tissue of patients exposed to SM.After performing pulmonary functional tes...

Background: Although the chemotherapeutic agents have been known for their cytotoxic effects on normal mammalian cells, these compounds are used widely for controlling the carcinogenic cells proliferation. Cyclophosphamide (CP), a well-known nitrogen mustard alkylating agent is used for autoimmune disorders and tumors treatment. Considering the inhibitory effect of CP on cell division, the ovar...
متن کاملExperimental Chemotherapy Studies. Iv. the Protective Action of Mercaptoalkylamines against Alkylating Agents.
SUMMARY The protective action of mercaptoalkylamines has been examined. Anticipated protection against HN2 has been observed, l-mercapto-2-aminobutane being slightly more effective than cysteamine. Protection failed in the case of L-phenylalanine mustard and chloroquine mustard, but significant post-protection was obtained with Cytoxan. Results obtained with various combinations of intraperiton...
متن کاملThermodynamic analysis of the reaction of phosphoramide mustard with protector thiols.
The systemic use of thiol-containing uroepithelial protecting agents, e.g., N-acetylcysteine (NAC) or mesna, in conjunction with the alkylating agent cyclophosphamide is predicated on the assumption that the toxic metabolic by-products will be consumed by thiol without diminishing the cytotoxicity of the active alkylating intermediate, phosphoramide mustard. Studies in murine tumor systems have...
